All you need is something you’ll find in any home and, in a few steps, it will be gone
Putting on the washing machine is one of those unavoidable tasks in any home, even though it is one of the least appealing for many people. One of the reasons for this is that not everyone is very clear how to put on a washing machine correctly, especially when it comes to certain garments. This lack of knowledge often leads to certain mistakes being made, and these errors when putting on the washing machine can result in small catastrophes. One of the most common mistakes is not checking the pockets of clothes properly.
More than one electronic device has ended up soaking wet because the clothes were not checked before putting them in the washing machine. Another much more frequent case involves handkerchiefs or pieces of paper. These, on coming into contact with water, become damp and end up becoming endless pieces that stick to the clothes. And it can be really annoying to try to remove them from the clothes, especially depending on the type of fabric. In these situations, the best strategy is to opt for one of those household cleaning tricks that never fail.
How can you get rid of bits of paper or lint from clothes?
Sometimes no matter how many times you check the pockets of your trousers, sweatshirts or jackets, it seems that there is always a handkerchief that manages to get in. And the worst thing about this is that you don’t realize it until the end of the washing machine cycle, you open the door and it turns out that everything is full of small pieces and scraps of paper. Some people try to remove as much as possible by shaking, others resort to lint rollers or even a vacuum cleaner. However, all these remedies are not usually effective enough.
Fortunately, user Eva Ruiz has shared the solution on her Instagram account with more than 500,000 followers, dedicated to the exchange of tips and tricks for organization, order and cleaning of the home. What’s more, it’s a very simple method that only requires an object that is easy to find in any home. The secret is to use a scouring pad.
To remove the pieces of paper, simply run a new scouring pad over the entire garment. The texture of the pad will make it easy to trap those tissue remains, no matter how attached they are to the garment. With patience and several passes, the clothes will look like new. This trick will also be effective on pants or sweatshirts with lint stuck to them, says Eva Ruiz.
